ABOUT US

A few years ago four professional plein-air painters from the Boothbay region were at an opening. (Corinne McIntyre, Roger Milinowski and Ron and Monique Parry). Ron said, "Since we all usually paint by ourselves why don't we go out every Wednesday and paint together". And so the "Plein Air Painters of Maine" was born. What started out with just four of us now has ten Chapters with over 600 members. At any given time in the summer there can be 14 to 20 people painting. In the winter there may only be two or three hearty folk. But the interest has never subsided. The comraderie, exchange of ideas and just plain fellowship with other painters is so rewarding.

The Boothbay Region, in fact, all of Maine, has a wealth of subject matter to paint. The sea, the coastal rocks, endless skies, seabirds, lobster boats, docks, fish houses...etc. It is so beautiful. A painters paradise.

I would like to extend an invitation to Plein Air Painters of Maine to join Plein Air Painters of the Bay of Fundy for our annual printout.

Here are the details:

We'll meet at the Visitor Centre parking lot for the Roosevelt-Campobello International Park and go from there.  Painting locations include bold cliffs, ocean views, cobble beaches, spruce and birch forests, bogs, fishing boats and more.  We can either go as a group to a specific location or split up into smaller groups; I can give suggestions as to painting locations on the island when we meet.  Picnic lunches, and if everyone is willing, early dinner at 5 pm Atlantic Time at The Pier (https://www.facebook.com/thepierwaterfront) followed by more painting afterward. Plenty of lodging on the island at www.visitcampobello.com or over in nearby Lubec at www.visitlubecmaine.com  NOTE:  This location is in Canada, and US citizens will need to bring either a passport, enhanced driver's license or driver's license + birth certificate.
