ABOUT US

A few years ago four professional plein-air painters from the Boothbay region were at an opening. (Corinne McIntyre, Roger Milinowski and Ron and Monique Parry). Ron said, "Since we all usually paint by ourselves why don't we go out every Wednesday and paint together". And so the "Plein Air Painters of Maine" was born. What started out with just four of us now has ten Chapters with over 600 members. At any given time in the summer there can be 14 to 20 people painting. In the winter there may only be two or three hearty folk. But the interest has never subsided. The comraderie, exchange of ideas and just plain fellowship with other painters is so rewarding.

The Boothbay Region, in fact, all of Maine, has a wealth of subject matter to paint. The sea, the coastal rocks, endless skies, seabirds, lobster boats, docks, fish houses...etc. It is so beautiful. A painters paradise.

PAPME OPPORTUNITY Paint for Preservation 2020

Call for Artists: Paint for Preservation 2020

Annual 3-day plein air event raises money for land conservation in Cape Elizabeth

CAPE ELIZABETH, MAINE – The Cape Elizabeth Land Trust (CELT) announced today that it is accepting artist submissions for Paint for Preservation 2020, the organization’s 13th annual juried Wet Paint Auction and one of Maine’s premier art auction events. Artist entries will be juried by Ruth Greene-McNally, Curator of American Art from the Ogunquit Museum
.
The Wet Paint Auction will be held on Sunday, June 28, 2020. Over three days on the weekend of the event (Friday June 26 through Sunday June 28), selected artists will paint en plein air  (outdoors) at designated public and private locations chosen to highlight Cape Elizabeth’s natural beauty. On Sunday afternoon, the newly painted artwork will be auctioned live at a tented cocktail reception in Cape Elizabeth. The action attracts about 400 people each year. Proceeds from the auction are shared with participating artists and benefit CELT’s conservation of the shore lands, marshes, farmlands and woodlands that provide scenic beauty, recreational opportunities and important wildlife habitat in Cape Elizabeth.

Interested artists are invited to submit three images of original plein air paintings in any medium for juried consideration. Samples must be submitted as digital images via email.
The artist submission form and further instructions regarding submission requirements may be obtained at
www.capelandtrust.org.

The deadline for artists’ submissions is Friday, March 13, 2020.
